Perhaps you aren’t aware that 4 October is World Animal Day. Yet WAD is celebrated around the world by organisations, groups, clubs, schools and individual, animal‐loving members of the public. Each year on 4 October we celebrate world animal day. It all started in Florence (Italy) in 1931 at a convention. On this day we celebrate all animal life. 4 October was chosen as world animal day because the link with Francis of Assisi. He was a nature lover and patron saint of animals and environment. WAD is intended as a day of celebration for anyone in the world who cares about animals.

World Animal Day celebrates humankind’s unique relationship with the animal kingdom. It helps us to remember and acknowledges the numerous ways in which animals enrich our lives.
